The NFO is Tasked with a Number of Responsibilities and Duties That Help Keep South Africa’s Economy Healthy

The NFO is tasked with a number of responsibilities and duties that help keep South Africa’s economy healthy and robust for consumers and fi nancial services providers alike. It’s essential that we maintain an open door policy, keep communications channels clear and accessible while spreading our message, as well as being a responsible, generous corporate citizen. These actions touch on all of our values and principles – accessibility, fairness, openness and passion in particular.

COMMUNICATIONS, PUBLIC RELATIONS, MARKETING & CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: SPEAKING CLEARLY, LISTENING INTENTLY & GIVING GENEROUSLY.

“A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination. But when you add that to a literate tongue or pen then you have something very special.” – Nelson Mandela

Introduction

In an increasingly interconnected world, our department has played a pivotal role in shaping the narrative surrounding our organisation. Over this past year, we have made significant strides across our key disciplines; Communications, Public Relations, Marketing and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Our major milestones and achievements reflect our commitment to excellence, innovation, collaboration and consumer literacy. This year, our team successfully revamped our internal and external messaging to better align with our organisational values and goals. We launched a comprehensive communication strategy that incorporated feedback from diverse stakeholders. In 2025, we innovated even further, launching our new intranet site which aims to improve internal communication, enabling teams to share resources seamlessly and collaborate more eff ectively. We developed and implemented a robust communication plan that ensures timely and accurate messaging enhancing trust and transparency among our stakeholders.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Our commitment to corporate social responsibility has been another cornerstone of our organisation’s efforts this first year of operation. In alignment with our mission to empower consumers, we developed, implemented and attended a series of workshops and roadshows and focused on financial literacy and responsible consumption. These initiatives and programmes were made possible through collaborations with various institutions and regulatory bodies united by shared passion and purpose striving to contribute to a better world and creating a brighter future for all. We reached thousands of people, providing extremely valuable knowledge and resources to support informed decision making. Through these collaborative efforts, we connected with local community organisations, regulators, government bodies, universities and municipalities, enhancing our presence and fostering positive relationships within the communities we serve.

Celebrating our Commitment to Community Support

– NFO Volunteers

There can be no greater gift than that of giving one’s time and energy to help others without expecting anything in return.”

– Nelson Mandela

The NFO team believe that contributing to the community is not just a responsibility but a privilege! Last year we supported three local charities within communities in Johannesburg and Cape Town through our Corporate Social Responsibility programme: Where Rainbows Meet, based in Cape Town, as well as the Marlene Frankfort Foundation, and Word of

Motion, both based in Johannesburg. It is essential that we recognise and express our gratitude for the collective efforts of our dedicated staff, who have gone beyond in making a tangible difference in the lives of those in need, whose generous voluntary work has included the following initiatives and engagements:

Food Initiatives

Through personal contributions and team-led food drives, we have provided essential food supplies to those who need them the most. This effort has not only alleviated hunger but has also fostered a sense of community and togetherness.

Personal Time and Engagement

Our staff has devoted countless hours volunteering their time to support various initiatives. From organising fundraising events to participating directly in community service, their unwavering dedication exemplifies our organisation’s values.

Support for Local Orphanages

A highlight of our efforts has been the installation of gas facilities at Word in Motion orphanage in Diepsloot Johannesburg. This initiative was made possible through one of our corporate sponsors that partnered with us and it has significantly improved living conditions for the children and provided them with a safer, more comfortable environment. Such projects underline our commitment to foster better living conditions for vulnerable populations.

Heartfelt Gratitude

As we reflect on our achievements over the past year, we express immense gratitude for the progress we have made. We realise that we are at the beginning of a journey, and we are steadfast in our commitment to setting a benchmark in dispute resolution and upholding our service standards. Our passion and purpose will serve as a guiding compass, driving us to make meaningful and positive contributions to all our stakeholders. Our commitment to serving the community remains unwavering and we encourage all our employees to continue

their generous volunteering initiatives. It is essential to emphasise that each of us has a role to play in making a difference in the lives of others. We extend our heartfelt thanks to every individual within the NFO for their remarkable dedication and contribution, which has played a vital role in moulding each initiative. Your efforts not only help build a better future for those we serve but also inspire others to join us in our mission to uplift the community. Together, we can create a lasting impression that resonates beyond on our immediate actions.

Empowering consumers through financial literacy: At the heart of our strategy is consumer empowerment. We believe that financial literacy is key to helping individuals make informed decisions, navigate financial challenges, and plan for the future. Through accessible information about our services and financial dispute resolution processes, we aim to enhance consumer understanding and financial well-being. By equipping consumers with the knowledge they need, we empower them to manage financial risks confidently and responsibly.
