The NFO’s Banking & Credit Division helps to mediate and resolve disputes between consumers and their banks and participating credit providers (including credit agents, credit bureaus, insurers, furniture and other retail stores, service providers, large and small non-bank credit providers, and non-bank providers of credit for purchases of property and motor vehicles).
Its jurisdiction covers licenced credit providers, as well as those banks which are members of The Banking Association South Africa and professional micro financiers which are members of MFSA.
As with all NFO Divisions, the Banking & Credit Division is committed to achieving speedy and confidential resolutions. It offers free and accessible Ombud scheme services to financial services customers who have exhausted their provider’s usual complaint processes and channels, and still feel aggrieved.
The Banking & Credit Division investigates and seeks to find fair, equitable and impartial outcomes in instances where customers believe that they have suffered financial loss or emotional harm through actions or inactions on the part of their bank or credit provider that they believe were prejudicial to their rights or interests, or were illegal.
